I recently had the pleasure to spend the day photographing mushroom farming out at the Kaolin Mushroom Farm in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Few people probably know it, but estimates say that 60-70% of the United States mushroom supply is grown in this tiny corner of Pennsylvania. Mike Pia, Jr, a fourth generation farmer himself, was gracious enough to spend the day with me as I documented what goes into mushroom farming for Bloomberg News. In addition to photographs, I shot a package of video and time-lapse for the piece. Nothing like leaving 20K worth of cameras overnight in an unlocked barn…. Check out the video too. Thanks for looking.
